The best way to protect your family and property is through vegetation management. A defensible space can allow you time to get your loved ones out safely in an emergency and will give the Fire District an opportunity to save your home.
Defensible space is the buffer you create between your home and the grass, trees, shrubs, or any wildland area that surrounds it. Proper defensible space can slow or stop the spread of wildfire and help protect your home.
Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) offers assistance to property owners within the boundaries of the Fire District.
A free Community Risk Reduction Defensible Space inspection for all submitted applications.
After a free defensible space home assessment is completed, residents can request the trailer to be delivered to their property.
Free removal of mitigated debris through KCFD1’s Community Risk Reduction Trailer Program.
To help residents create a defensible space around their home and property, KCFD1 has a trailer available for residents of the District to assist in hauling off flammable vegetation.
