KCFD1 Foundation

The Foundation exists to provide for the well-being of Klamath County Fire District No. 1 employees and their families in times of need. Our belief is that our firefighters shall be provided for as they have provided for others. 

One hundred percent of money received goes straight to the Foundation. We make every effort to provide both financial assistance and personal support to our employees, who have dedicated their lives to helping others. 

Funds received by the Foundation are used several ways. The majority of the funds are set aside to provide financial relief to Klamath County Fire District No. 1 employees or their families in times of special need resulting from a serious injury or death. 

A small percentage of funds are used for general purposes, such as fundraising and advertising. In addition, the Foundation strives to provide scholarship opportunities to dependents of Fire District No.1 employees. 

In 1997, the Board of Directors of Klamath County Fire District No. 1 established the Firefighter Emergency Donation Fund to assist firefighters and their families in the case of injury or death of the firefighter.

In 2010, the Klamath County Fire District No. 1 Foundation was created to receive, maintain, and disburse the funds set aside in the Emergency Donation Fund. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3), completely separate from Fire District No. 1. The Foundation receives money strictly by donations and fundraisers. 

A five-member volunteer Board of Trustees oversee the running of the Foundation. This Board of Trustees is comprised of two appointed representatives from IAFF Local 890, two appointed representatives from the Klamath County Fire District No. 1Board of Directors, and one appointed representative from the non-represented personnel of Fire District No. 1. In addition, the Fire Chief serves as a non-voting advisor to the Board of Trustees.
