To kick off Fire Prevention week we will focus on the National campaign message of "Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!" You will find lots of fun videos and tools to educate everyone about the simple but important actions they can take to keep themselves, and those around them, safe in the kitchen.
Check back every day this week for a new safety message!
Cooking fires are the number one cause of home fires and home fire injuries. Just a few simple safety tips can protect you and your family from a potentially devastating home fire.
In a fire, mere seconds can mean the difference between a safe escape and a tragedy. Fire safety education isn’t just for school children. Teenagers, adults, and the elderly are also at risk in fires, making it to make sure you understand how to stay safe in case of a fire.
Fire Prevention Week is a perfect time to complete this cooking safety checklist together. If you checked YES on all the boxes, great job! If some boxes are checked NO, work together as a family to turn them into a YES.!
Keep kids safe from burns and scalds. Have a kid-free zone of at least 3 feet around hot things in the kitchen.
Sparky loves to cook! When he is not teaching about fire safety, he can usually be found in the kitchen. Letting kids help in the kitchen is a great way to teach them about cooking safety and the importance of eating healthy.
Who doesn't love to color? Download this fun activity, make it beautiful and share it with your family. We would love to see your work, #KCFD1 on social media so we can see it!
