Letter from the fire chief

Hello everyone,

As the public health concerns with (COVID-19) continue, I wanted to explain the steps we are taking to ensure our fire and emergency services continue to function at a high level.

Over the last several months we’ve continued to monitor this evolving public health concern closely. As we continue to obtain additional information about this virus, it has allowed us to make educated decisions in adjusting our business practices and emergency service delivery to our community.  Our KCFD1 team members are our first priority, by taking care of them, we will be able to continue to deliver high levels of service to our community.

In response to this health concern, and in order to practice social distancing, we have taken the following precautions:

  • All Fire Stations have been closed and remain closed to the public.
  • In addition, we’ve limited access to the public at the Central Fire Station. The public has been allowed to enter this building and occupy the following areas: the front lobby/board room and restroom area. These areas have limited access because of the need to involve the public in meetings, and the need for people to discuss fire and emergency service delivery within the community. As of Monday, November 16, 2020 all portions of Central Fire Station will be closed to the public.
  • We’ve also suspended all community outreach programs and modified our involvement in fire inspections throughout the community.

We understand the impact these decisions have on our community; however by taking these steps we are limiting person-to-person interaction and doing our part to limit the spread of the virus, and ensure we have a safe and healthy team and community.

Take care and stay safe,

Greg Davis, Fire Chief
