hazardous materials (hazmat) emergency response Team 4

HazMat Emergency Response Team 4 protects life and the environment by responding to chemical emergencies and minimizing the dangers associated with them. We are 1 of 13 regions strategically located statewide to provide response to HazMat incidents. Team 4 responds to incidents located in Klamath and Lake Counties.  

In the event of a large or complex hazardous materials incident, Fire District No. 1 activates HazMat Team 4 technicians. This team is made up of members from all ranks of Klamath County Fire District 1, and each person receives 160 hours of HazMat response training. In order to keep up their skills, HazMat 4 conducts team trainings twice a month. They train on a vast array of scenarios, detection equipment, suits, monitors and other tools that could be needed in a hazmat emergency.
